Course Assignments Overview

  1. Five in-class group work projects (25 points each)
  2. Worksheet 1
    1. Week 1: Answer Chapter 1: Questions 1–3 and upload (20 points)
    2. Week 2: Answer Chapter 2: Questions 1–3 and upload (20 points)
    3. Week 3: Answer Chapter 3: Questions 1–3 and upload (20 points)
    4. Week 4: Answer Chapter 4: Questions 1–3 and upload (20 points)
    5. Week 5: Answer Chapter 5: Questions 1–3, and The “Fix-It” Reflection, and upload (20 points)
  3. Week 6: Job Posting Research (50 points)
  4. Week 7: Complete Worksheet 2: Business Career Path Review (Word doc) and upload it to the Blackboard > Content tab (100 points)
  5. Week 7: Complete Infographic Poster and upload it to the Blackboard > Content tab (50 points)
  6. (Optional) Extra credit: Create an Infographic from important information from your completed Worksheet 2. You choose which info is most important to you. (25 points)

    • Group Work
      • Get into four groups (1, 2, 3, 4)
      • 10 minutes to read and prepare as a group, 5–10 minutes to present and teach the class.
      • As a group, read your chapters from the case study, Leo and the Hospital.
        • Group 1 reads chapters 1 & 3
        • Group 2 reads chapters 1 & 4
        • Group 3 reads chapters 1 & 5
        • Group 4 reads chapters 1 & 2
      • Prepare to teach the class about your chapters and their topics.
      • Have a few group members share their own work experiences to reinforce your chapter topics (if possible).

      • Get into four groups (1, 2, 3, 4)
      • (20 Minutes) I’ll introduce, and we’ll discuss:
      • AI Literacy Pathway
      • Using AI – Effectively & Responsibly
      • AI Prompt – Best Practices
      • (10 minutes) Write your own prompt to have AI research real jobs in your career field and tell you what employers want you to know for 2026–2027. Ask about common projects you’ll work on, software you’ll use, soft skills you need to have, etc. Also, ask it to provide a bulleted list of its top 5 sources.
      • (10 Minutes) Share your findings with your group members. Any similarities? Any surprises? Are you comfortable with what you know?
      • (20 minutes) Share your individual and group findings with the class.

      • Get into four groups
      • We’re going to challenge AI’s job search results from last week by having you do your own research.
      • Introduce and review: Job Posting Research – Instructions
      • 10 Minutes
        • Each group member finds two real job openings in the field of your choice
        • Take notes and summarize what you find employers want
      • 10–15 Minutes
        • Share your job search findings as a group.
        • What did you have in common? What made you nervous? What do you already know? Was it what you thought it would be?
      • 10–15 Minutes
        • Share your group’s findings with the class.
        • Does anyone already work in your chosen field? Are the job openings the same as yours? Do you need to learn more?

    • WATCH: 20-minute video on YouTube – “Business Transfer Agreements here at Western”
      • Watch this video to learn about Western’s transfer agreements with universities in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and beyond. Many Western programs transfer directly into bachelor’s degree pathways, helping students continue their education with a clear plan for completing a four-year degree. Contact your College Advisor for more information.
    • COMPLETE and Upload BEFORE week 7 class starts (Upload under the Blackboard > Content tab):
      • DUE Your completed Worksheet 2: Business Career Path Review (Word doc)
