Another option for your Behance portfolio pages is to design in Illustrator and then export it as a 1400 px wide, 150 ppi, PNG and uploaded it to a project page in Behance.
Noah, a former student of mine, created his design using multiple artboards. This allowed him to chunk certain pieces together and be able to reorder them. You don’t have to use multiple artboards—one will do just fine, but it might take longer to load. I’d recommend using multiple artboards.
The proper way to export your artboards is File > Export > Artboards To Files…. This allows you to have a continuous background image if you choose. You can also have art images that overlap from one artboard to another. Like the arrow graphic below.
