Course Description: This comprehensive design course introduces students to the basic principles of marketing and their application to graphic design. Positioning, branding, and consumer behavior are major focuses of the course. Students gain experience designing marketing, advertising, and promotional materials for a variety of products and services. This course will also emphasize innovative graphic problem-solving and creative visual communication.
What you’ll hand in
Week 1–2
- Write your client’s Brand & Marketing Strategy (25 points)
- Write your client’s Marketing Plan & Timeline (25 points)
Weeks 2–6
- You’ll Design: Logo and brand style guide (100 points)
- You’ll Design: A coordinated set of 2–4 additional pieces of marketing material (you will pick these along with your instructor). (200 points)
- You’ll participate in design presentations and critiques (25 points each)
Weeks 6–7
- You’ll design a 2-page spread of your marketing campaign (see below) for your portfolio. (50 Points)
