I use Canva in my classroom to help teach my graphic design students how to design marketing material, learn about the principles and elements of design, and to hone their marketing skills delivering a visual message to a target audience.
Below are several designs I created in Canva to inspire my graphic design students when they design the same pieces in with Canva. I show them these designs and use them to illustrate the best practices integrated into each example. These assets and designs act as templates for students to begin with—but they still have to create their own designs in their own Canva account.
I appreciate Canva’s approach to what I call the democratization of graphic design. Its platform allows anyone access to design software and assets to help them create something for fun, for school, for home, or for their business. Truly inspirational and forward-thinking.
I’ve added Canva design projects to my classes because I’ve seen Canva pop up in graphic design job postings over the past few years. Whether it’s high school or college students in my classes, I want to give them these new skills to help them begin their design careers.
