Course Overview
You’ll find all the information you need for this course in the dropdown menu above.
Course Description: This course prepares graphic design students to capture, edit, and deploy professional-quality photo and video content using only a smartphone. In today’s creative industry, designers are increasingly expected to control the full content pipeline — from image capture to final marketing execution. This course develops the technical and creative skills necessary to meet those expectations.
Students learn camera fundamentals, including resolution, aspect ratios, frame rates, shutter principles, lighting control, composition for layout, and basic audio techniques. Emphasis is placed on intentional shooting for real-world design applications, such as social media ads, posters, menus, web banners, and short-form promotional videos.
Following capture, students edit their work using industry-standard software, including Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro (or DaVinci Resolve). They learn color correction, retouching, pacing, export settings, and platform optimization for both print and digital media. Select AI-assisted tools are introduced to enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining professional standards.
The course culminates in a fully integrated marketing campaign in which students use only the photos and videos they captured themselves. Final deliverables include edited product photography, a short promotional video, and multiple designed marketing pieces. Through critique and presentation, students demonstrate their ability to create cohesive, brand-consistent campaigns from capture to final execution.
