Type-Heavy Title Design – Instructions

Overview

This project will allow you a lot of creative freedom to design a title for something using primarily typography (with a little art if you choose).

Many designers are tasked with creating interesting and unique title designs, book covers, article lead-ins, website headers, wall murals, or posters that utilize typography as the primary element and emphasis.

You can draw your title design freehand, or use Illustrator, or combine both.

Grading Checklist

  • Design one type-heavy title design for a project of your choice
  • Size: 8.5″ x 11″
  • CMYK, 300 ppi if you do it digitally
  • Software: Adobe Illustrator
  • Create a color scheme with 1–3 colors
  • Allow the examples below to influence your design choices.
  • Do something unique that will impress a potential employer
  • Participate in the in-class critique and presentation
